A King from Beyond Dear Friend, It was a Friday morning—the worst morning of my life. I knew I would soon die. Pontius Pilate was questioning me, asking me if I was a king. I told him, “My kingdom doesn’t belong to this world” (John 18:36). I am a king, but not the sort of king Pilate was thinking of. Pilate was picturing a king that rules over people, bossing them around and giving orders. In Pilate’s mind, a king was someone who tried to get as much power over others as possible. Since Pilate was the governor, he didn’t want me saying I was the king! Yes, I am king, but a different kind of king. I am a king who serves others, not one who makes others serve me. I am king of the whole human race. My throne was the cross. My crown was made of thorns. No, my kingdom is not the earthly kind. But it does begin here on earth. It is a kingdom where love and forgiveness, peace and justice reign. It is a kingdom where life is eternal. I am the King who loves and serves everyone. I invite everyone into my kingdom. Your friend, Jesus
Quiet place Take a few moments and hold a crucifix in your hands. Think about how much Jesus loves you. He died for you! Speak to Jesus. Ask him to be the King of your life. Tell him you want to help his kingdom grow by loving others as he does. Let him reign in you and guide you! Home Copyright © 1999-2007, Daughters of St. Paul. All Rights Reserved.
