To do b efore the movie: Talk about story-telling. What are the ingredients of a good story? Talk about what happens when a person dies and how families can go on when a loved one goes to heaven. Talk about the natural environment and human progress. How can they exist together for the good of all?
To do after the movie: Make a chart of the three most important things your family would like to achieve and post it on the refrigerator. Do a bird count in your back yard. Sit quietly at a window at early morning, noon, afternoon and evening one day.Count the birds and see if you can identify them. Keep a chart. Look up the history of bird counting on the Internet. Read about the annual Great Backyard Bird Count. Buy a model airplane and build it together with your family. Talk about flying and the impact of machines on nature. (Idea by Matthew R., age 11) Talk with my family about helping at an animal shelter or adopting an orphan pet, who will take care of it and how.
