Ice Age

Ice Age is an animated tale that takes place in prehistoric times. It is a lot of fun to watch. A woolly mammoth named Manfred and a sloth named Sid find a human baby and work together to return him to his parents. A saber tooth tiger named Diego joins them, but he thinks more about his dinner than saving the baby. In the end, the characters learn to trust each other, and they return the baby to his “herd.”

Ice Age shows how to be a good friend. You should always be nice to others no matter what they look like or what they have.”
— Josh M., age 11

“This movie was extremely funny, a little weird and kind of surprising. I didn’t like all the sad parts. I wish the baby’s mother had not died.”
— Jarred P., age 11

“Families can learn that no matter who you are, you need to get along.”
— India H., age 11

“I liked the animation. And I learned that if you find something, you need to return it.”
— Dustin B., age 12

“I liked that Diego changed his mind and helped Sid and Manny. I learned that some people have two sides to them.”
— Taylor W., age 11

To do before the movie:

Look up “ice age” on the Internet or in the encyclopedia.

To do after the movie:

Make a deck of cards by drawing each of the characters twice. Make one card with the baby on it. Play the game like Old Maid. The winner is the one who “saves” the baby (Idea by Dustin B., age 12).

List three other movies that are stories with a lesson. Talk about these with your family and which one you liked most and why.
