Swiss Family Robinson Review by Michael Nerbun Swiss Family Robinson is a story about a family of three boys, a father and a mother who were shipwrecked on their way to start a new life in New Guinea. On their voyage over they are chased by pirates into a storm. When the storm calms down the family discovers that the captain and all the crew have abandoned ship and left them stranded. They are close enough to an island to make a raft out of boards from the ship, and they take many things ashore like wood and sail cloth, pots and pans, books and even an organ and an assortment of farm animals that they had been taking to New Guinea. When they arrive safely on the island, the first thing they do is to kneel down and thank God. God was the only hope they had that they would survive and be rescued. This story is one of my favorite movies. It is full of adventure, wild animals, snakes and nasty pirates. It is exciting as the family starts a new life and builds an awesome tree house and learns to work hard together and have fun in their new home. It was hysterical to watch the pirates get caught by the creative traps constructed by the family. I think you should watch the film because it is a fun family movie. It is full of action, suspense, and humor. The story really shows what a family can do when they work, play and pray together. The parents always wanted to do what was best for their family. I think that is what your parents should do for you. To talk about before the movie: Do you think your parents should do what’s best for you? Why? Do you look up to God every day? Why or why not? To talk about after the movie: What did you learn about how to be a good family from this movie? Do you think they did the right thing at the end of the movie? Why? Do you think that their depending on God helped them at all? Why? Home Copyright © 1999-2007, Daughters of St. Paul. All Rights Reserved.
