Behind the Waterfall This is a movie filled with endearing charm and the power of imagination! It takes place in a small village named Erinville, which becomes the summer home of Tommy and his older sister Becky as they visit their aunt after the loss of their father. In struggling to face the reality of his father’s death, Tommy becomes fast friends with his cousin Alex, a girl with no desire to indulge in fantasy or the world of imagination. This begins to change, however, when the pair meets up with the town storyteller and cobbler, L.P. Connors. Mr. Connors is full of Irish tales of adventure, fairies, and a magical lost flute. As the summer moves on, the children embark on a daring quest to find the flute, and along the way, they discover a faith they had never known. This is just a great movie! Some of it is very adventurous, too. My favorite part is at the end when Becky faces the dreaded pooka…. But you’ll have to watch the movie to find out just what a pooka really is! To Talk About Before the Movie Talk about good ways to use your imagination. After the Movie What did you think about the stories the cobbler told? Do you tell stories in your family? Does the Church have stories—real important stories? When do we hear those stories told? Kevin (8 years old) and his mother, Eileen, like to watch and talk about movies together. Kevin has two sisters and two brothers, and one of his favorite hobbies is building with Legos! Home Copyright © 1999-2007, Daughters of St. Paul. All Rights Reserved.
