Mary Helps Us
Ask Jesus for What We Need
by Sr. Mary Elizabeth
Tebo, FSP
When Jesus was
dying on the cross, he gave us Mary as our Mother. Mary is Jesus’ Mother,
and she is your Mother, too! Jesus said so..."Behold your Mother."
When you have
a problem to solve or good news to share, who do you run to tell? Your
mother or someone else very special...right?
Now that’s just
how Jesus wants you to act with his Mother Mary. You can pray
to Mary for every kind of need and she will come to help you right away.
There is an ancient
prayer the first Christians used to say, to ask Mary’s help. It is a
short prayer: "We run to your protection, Holy Mother of God."
Today, centuries
later, we usually say "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is
with you." Mary is always listening to us so she can help us
or rejoice in our good news.
Mary will always
bring your joys and sorrows right to Jesus. She never keeps them for
herself.
She asks her
son Jesus to give you what you need because she will always be your
Mother.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full
of grace! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed
is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for
us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Hail Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen,
Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you
we cry, the children of Eve; to you we send up our sighs, mourning and
weeping in this land of exile. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your
eyes of mercy towards us; lead us home at last and show us the blessed
fruit of your womb, Jesus: O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
