Mary Anne Long
Mary Ann Long was born in 1946 and died at the age of 12. When she was 3, she fell victim to cancer. She had to have 1 eye removed. Her mom was sick too and couldn’t take care of her. So Mary Ann went to live at a hospice nun by Dominican sisters. She was a real joy to the nuns and the patients there. She learned from the nuns of God’s infinite love for her. She was baptized and at the age of 5 made her first Communion. Although Mary Ann suffered much she was patient and spread joy to the people at the hospice. Her family couldn’t visit her often because they lived far away. But Mary Ann understood this and offered this sorrow to Jesus. When cancer was spreading all over her, Mary Ann didn’t complain. She was at peace. She knew she would to Heaven. She died on Jan18, 1959 in her sleep. The Way Even though Mary Ann suffered a lot, she didn’t make others suffer. She was cheerful and loving. When you just get the flu or a cold, you too can offer this to Jesus for the sake of others who suffers, too. Words from Mary Ann " Jesus I love you with all my got"—that was as close as she could say heart when she was small. "I Know Jesus can heal me. I know He can do all things. It doesn’t
make a bit of difference whether He heals me or not. That’s His
business." (Modern Saints page 412) Home Copyright © 1999-2007, Daughters of St. Paul. All Rights Reserved.
