Victoria Diez Victoria was born in Spain at the beginning of the twentieth century. She was a very dedicated teacher—an art teacher to be exact!
Doesn’t sound extraordinary? Victoria showed us otherwise: she was cheerful and likable, and always ready and willing to help her students, even if that meant making sacrifices. She loved God very much and worked to share this love with others. She prayed often, especially before the Blessed Sacrament in Church. When the civil war broke out in Spain, people who were Catholic were hunted down and often put to death. At this time Victoria was arrested and imprisoned. She was killed for her faith in Jesus when she was only thirty-two years old.
Victoria showed that anyone can become holy. She was a devoted teacher who loved children. She made sacrifices for the good of others. She taught her students about God’s love. She died with the name of Jesus on her lips. Victoria’s last words were: "The prize awaits us! I see heaven open! Long live Christ our King." Home Copyright © 1999-2007, Daughters of St. Paul.
